fun & funky san francisco home

Browsing through old home tour videos on The Nest, I came across a tour of the San Francisco home of Lauren Smith and Derek Fagerstrom, owners of The Curiosity Shoppe in the Mission District. What a playful, creative space!

Also featured in 7x7 (the source of this photo) and Uppercase magazine, their home includes touches such as:
  • picture frames with cork board inside and "art" tacked inside with push pins
  • a patchwork duvet made from old shirts
  • an Ikea console decorated with stripes of varied woodgrain contact paper
  • light sconces made from birdhouses
  • amazing one-of-a-kind furniture pieces such as the cabinet in this photo, from furniture designer Thomas Wold
Even if this quirky, eclectic look isn't your style, it's still a fun space to look at. Definitely check out the video!

And, if you ARE into Lauren and Derek's decorating style, you might also enjoy one of the two books they've published: Wallpaper Projects and Show Me How -- a fun illustrated guide to 500 activities from dyeing Easter eggs to reading body language to mounting a camel.
