afternoon delight: braised fennel at Edo's

More loft photos soon. But meanwhile, I can't neglect to feature one of the other highlights of this past weekend. Tired and hungry after tromping through countless lofts, we dropped into Edo's Squid for lunch on Saturday. Edo's is one of my favorite Richmond restaurants, partly because of its sunny upstairs location (featuring exposed brick and big, old windows), partly because of the friendly servers, but mostly because of the amazing food they serve there. One of my favorite dishes is the braised fennel. I've tried many times to replicate it at home but have never quite gotten it just right. If you want to come close, though, try this recipe from The Kitchn. But if you're in Richmond, there's nothing like dropping in at Edo's for the real thing. I'd recommend going on a weekend afternoon to enjoy the sunshine and views and to avoid the craziness you'll encounter there on weekend evenings.
