contest loser

Flor, the maker of many nifty varieties of carpet tiles, recently held a design contest. If they selected you as a finalist, you would win the carpet you designed.

Our current living room rug is looking a little tired, and also a little small for the room now that we've opened the wall between the living and dining rooms. The prospect of a new and FREE rug was a delightful one, so I entered the contest. Here's the design I entered:


The bad news is that I didn't win anything. The worse news is that I thought the finalists Flor selected weren't nearly as attractive as mine! Different people have different tastes, clearly. See what you think of the three contest winners:




To be completely honest, I still occasionally feel a little bitter when I look at our living room rug. :)

Bob of course fell in love with my design and thought we should go ahead and purchase the tiles -- which was probably the whole sneaky idea behind the contest. But it's no longer an option for us. We've since purchased a new sofa that coordinates beautifully with the existing rug but would clash with this multicolored Flor design of mine.

So it appears the only thing my design will now decorate is this blog...
