bamboo tile

On the topic of new building materials, I fell in love with these Sobu bamboo tiles from Walker Zanger after spotting them at a tile showroom here in Richmond. (This is the "gold" finish, but they also come in "sable" and "espresso". There are a few other patterns available as well.)

Ultimately, they were too high-end for our budget, so we ended up going with regular bamboo floors in our new master bathroom. (Yes, it was a little risky, but my online research suggested we could get away with it provided we don't splash water all over the room and leave it pooling on the floor. Stay tuned, though, to see if they end up warping from the humidity. So far so good...)

As soon as we finish putting the bathroom together, I'll post some pictures. The golden bamboo looks lovely against the slate tile (gray/blue-gray/russet) and the spice-colored walls.
