architectural pottery by Stacy Snyder

While we're on the topic of agricultural architecture as the inspiration for contemporary designs, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the work of potter Stacy Snyder. A member of 16 Hands and a participant in their bi-annual studio tour in Floyd County, Virginia, many of Stacy's pieces are inspired by old grain silos, barns, and other utilitarian buildings and structures. As you can see from the photos below, her pieces just beg to be displayed in groups, like a cluster of farm buildings silhouetted against a clear rural sky.

You can find more pictures of Stacy's work on her website. (We have a few of her things in our collection, so perhaps one day soon I'll feature some pictures of those pieces here as well.) And if you're in or near Virginia, consider visiting her in her Floyd County studio during one of the 16 Hands tours, or in Arlington where she lives and works during the rest of the year.
