great italian food blog

Thanks to the miracle of Facebook, I just reconnected with my friend Lisa who, it turns out, has been blogging for almost three years without my knowledge.

Lisa has the most infectious laugh you will ever hear, and she is also an amazing cook. No wonder: Fluent in Italian and a frequent visitor to that country, as well as to Italian restaurants, markets, bakeries, etc., Lisa is outgoing and curious and so has learned a ton about the Italians' miraculous way with food just by talking with other people.

And, with frequent posts about what she's seeing, learning, and eating, Lisa is sharing all that with us via her mouthwatering, entertaining, and highly instructional blog, Mangiare Bene.

I encourage you to head over there to sample it for yourself. But just to whet your appetite, here's a photo of a completely (and I mean completely) homemade pizza that Lisa whipped up for herself recently...

  2. I think one of the more romantic cities to visit is Italy. I personally went there on my honeymoon and my wife and I loved the food and the people there! I would strongly suggest Rome and Florence. Although it can get very touristy, especially in the summer, they are very beautiful places with so much history and culture. To break free from the tourist crowd, I would suggest you to try some home-dining options. We went to dine with one of the local hosts on BonAppetour, and were treated to a fancy meal at their homes on the rooftop! It is very simple to book a dinner with the hosts on their website too! Other than that, I would also suggest you to try taking one of those Vespa tours, especially in the Florence country-side. Riding on the vespa with your partner across the green landscape is actually very thrilling and romantic! Hope this helped!
